Know Your Best Friend (Your PC)

It's important to start from the basics. And what better place to start, than your good old friend the PC.

So lets be honest... Most, if not all people on this planet know what a PC (Personal Computer) is. They've either seen it, or used it at some point. But what if I told you that your PC is more like you as a human being than you might think.

Lets start with the most basic stuff. You, as a person, have a name just like everyone else on this planet. Your PC also has a name, but it's not called "name" but an IP Address. If you go over to your Router or Modem at home right now, flip it over and read the sticker, it should say somewhere: "IP Address: 192.168.1.1". That ladies and gentlemen, is the name of that particular device.

You have a social security number, so does your PC. However, it's not called "social security number", but a MAC Address.

I can go even deeper and explain how the components of your computer represent the equivalent of organs in humans. Obviously we are more complex than machines, thus we can't really compare every single component to their human counterparts. But you should be able to see some resemblance. For the purpose of a simple example, the PC Case which houses all the inner components can be viewed as both Skin and Bones. You can do the rest yourself :P

Thank you for reading this short post. Obviously, this is very elementary stuff if you're an IT guy. But, with every new post we go further and further into networks. This is, after all, my first ever post. We have to start somewhere, no? :D
